Parma Violet can be found halfway down the Main Street in the wonderfully quaint Victorian market town of Kirkby Lonsdale in Cumbria (less than 1/2 an hour's drive from the Lake District), together with many other award winning and independently owned shops, cafes and restaurants.
It was dreamt of long before it was born (some dreams really do come true!) and when the doors finally opened in April 2005, we were at last able to reveal our eclectic mix of GIFTS, CLOTHING, CARDS, BOOKS and VINTAGE items including quilts on the first floor, together with three more rooms in the cellar providing a treasure trove of fabulous TOYS for good girls and boys beneath!
It is our aim to try to change our stock and displays regularly to be able to offer you the very best products we can find according to the seasons and as such you might come in to buy an EMMA BRIDGEWATER mug but also leave with a cute little vintage chocolate mould, a handmade button bracelet or a sticky mousehole for your skirting board. Prepare to be amazed!
Other labels we offer include a large range of CATH KIDSTON, new ladieswear JACKPOT CLOTHING, CAROLINE GARDNER cards and MOULIN ROTY toys.
Since our sign outside the shop reads "Muddy Boots and Dogs Welcome!" a small note about DOGS ..... We LOVE them and so do most of the other businesses in the town! As such you can spend the most relaxing time in Kirkby Lonsdale walking along the river past Devils Bridge and Ruskins View (painted by Turner) followed by a super lunch in one of the many great pubs, cafes or winebars and finish off with an afternoon of shopping in this very special town, not forgetting to pop in to see us and our infamous black labrador Bunty! Or really push the boat out and come and stay for the weekend as the town is also ideally placed for daytrips to both the Lakes and Dales.
We also offer a Wedding List service, Gift vouchers and a Loyalty card scheme plus lovely gift wrapping. Parma Violet purple tissue of course!

We offer a constantly changing and eclectic mix of widely sourced products including hand crafted and vintage items with attention to display and level of service.
In addition to being featured in a number of different publications, we were also named 'Shop of the Month' by Country Living magazine.

Being only 25 minutes drive from Parma Violet and situated right on the coast it is perfect for both shopping and walking but also eating too, in the fabulous Wolfhouse Kitchen right next door. We thoroughly recommend the cinnamon buns! Children will also love the play area and muddy boots and dogs are most welcome. Well worth a visit!
